HoYoverse has officially announced Genshin Impact’s Version 4.8, titled “Summertide Scales and Tales,” set to launch on July 17. This update brings a fresh summer experience with the introduction of Simulanka, a limited-time magical map. The update will also feature new outfits for characters Nilou and Kirara, alongside the debut of a new five-star character, Emilie, a perfumer with unique combat abilities.
Simulanka presents a vibrant new world filled with origami creatures, clockwork figures, and other fantastical beings. Players can explore this enchanting landscape with familiar faces such as Kirara, Nilou, Navia, and the Wanderer. Seasonal events will punctuate the journey, offering various mini-games like “Boreal Flurry,” “Flying Hatter’s Trick,” and “Metropole Trials,” each providing opportunities to earn Starsail Coins. These coins can be used to draw for figurines, which can be displayed on “Good Shelves” throughout Simulanka or added as Furnishings in the Serenitea Pot.
The update also includes stylish new outfits for Kirara and Nilou. Kirara’s new phantom burglar-themed outfit can be obtained by collecting “Excerpts of Bliss,” while Nilou’s floral-themed attire will be available at a limited-time discount in the store. Emilie, the new five-star Dendro polearm user, brings a fresh dynamic to the game with her abilities that deal extra damage to Burning enemies. Her Story Quest, “Pomum de Ambra Chapter,” explores her dual identity as a perfumer and a forensic cleaner.
In addition to these new features, Version 4.8 will introduce optimizations to the Encounter Point System, allowing players to store and use Encounter Points later to claim Daily Commission rewards. The cooldown for World Bosses has also been reduced to just 10 seconds, enabling smoother challenges and quicker Resin consumption. Another new feature, “Echo,” will add unique trailing effects to character movements, available for characters like Diluc, Qiqi, Kirara, Jean, and Ningguang.
