Playtonic Friends announced that the rogue-lite action game Elsie from developer Knight Shift Games will launch on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on September 10, 2024. This announcement follows a lengthy development cycle as the team refined the game’s controls and gameplay.
Animator David Liu was commissioned to create a new trailer that showcases the character Elsie and her difficult journey ahead. We also get to see some of the updated gameplay systems and characters.
In Elsie, players embark on a riveting journey on the planet Ekis, a world teeming with scientific wonders yet plagued by rampant natural disasters. The game begins with Dr. Grey, a brilliant scientist who previously crafted “The Guardians,” a team of high-tech androids designed to thwart these cataclysms. However, when these androids mysteriously vanish, leaving Ekis exposed to both natural and mechanical threats, Dr. Grey creates Elsie, an advanced android with unmatched capabilities.
As Elsie, players will navigate through the chaotic beauty of Ekis, showcased in vibrant, neon-drenched biomes. Each level is procedurally generated, ensuring a unique experience with every playthrough. Players will engage in “Bullet Hell Ballet” where they must dash, dive, and shoot through hordes of dynamic enemies while mastering precision parrying. The game introduces roguelike elements, where death is a mere hiccup in the persistent quest for victory. Upgrade and customize your character with a plethora of strategic choices that affect gameplay, from augments to weapons. Engage in epic boss battles against biome Guardians and an army of rogue robots, employing both ranged and melee combat tactics.
