Devolver Digital and Massive Monster have announced that they will host two Cult of the Lamb-themed weddings at this year’s PAX Australia in Melbourne.
Titled the Unholy Matrimony, these two weddings will occur at 11 AM and 3 PM AEST on October 13, 2024, within a faithful life-sized replica of the Cult of the Lamb Temple from the game.
To clarify, these are real weddings that the Victorian government will legally bind and recognize. The Temple will be located next to the Handheld Lounge and the entrance to the Main Theatre, meaning there is plenty of space for attendees to visit. The events will also not be ticketed.
Julian Wilton, Creative Director at Massive Monster, said the following:
“Last year, we threw an epic rave at Federation Square, and over 6,000 people showed up. o, we thought, how do we top that this year? Easy… wedding rituals!
We’re definitely dialing up the crazy, but it’s all for you, our amazing fans. The love you’ve shown for our game has been incredible, and now it’s time to spread that love. And what better way to do that than by legally marrying two awesome couples?”
Cult of the Lamb has players assume the role of a possessed lamb who has been saved from annihilation by a stranger. Players will need to start their cult in these lands of false prophets, and the goal is to work hard to be the one true cult.
During gameplay, players will build new structures by gathering materials and performing rituals to appease gods. Further, players will need to conduct sermons to gather the most followers. However, there are some non-believers, and they will need to be dealt with through action combat. Players can also train their flock and send them out on missions. The gameloop is to Cleanse the non-believers, spread enlightenment, and perform mystical rituals on the journey to become the mighty lamb god.
