Ubisoft has announced that following their previous confirmation of joining the E3 lineup this Summer, they have rescinded this news. Instead, the developer will “move in a different direction” with a Ubisoft Forward Live event in Los Angeles on June 12, 2023.
Ubisoft shared the following statements with the outlet VideoGameChronicle:
“E3 has fostered unforgettable moments across the industry throughout the years…While we initially intended to have an official E3 presence, we’ve made the subsequent decision to move in a different direction, and will be holding a Ubisoft Forward Live event on 12th June in Los Angeles. We look forward to sharing more details with our players very soon.”
Currently, alongside Ubisoft not arriving at the show, Microsoft and Nintendo have also confirmed their lack of presence. E3 is scheduled to start on June 11, 2023, so we’re bound to learn more certain news regarding individuals and companies making their way to the event over the next two months.
E3 has been facing severe difficulties in recent years, especially with publishers and developers often seeking to make digital shows of their own for emphasized focused presence and convenience. As a result, the strength of E3 has definitely waned, but perhaps it’ll surprise us this year. We’ll simply have to wait and see.
