Private Division announced that the Piccolo-developed emotional adventure game After Us will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on May 23, 2023.
After Us has players play as Gaia, the Spirit of Life. Players will navigate through platforming levels as they explore a lonely new world. Gaia is tasked with reviving the creatures who have fallen victim to this wasteland. There’s an environmental message here as players will revive animals such as the last whale harpooned, the final eagle caged, the last deer hunted down, and more.
As Gaia revives the creatures, they will make their back to Mother’s Ark, but this will require a quest across some dangerous areas. Further, traps will serve as an obstacle for Gaia, and oil will need to be dealt with as it consumes the world.
After Us is story-focused and provides a somber look at the world that has been impacted by humans. Gaiai is able to glide, jump, and dash through each environment to save them from total loss and hopefully save some lives.
