Techland has announced Dying Light: The Beast, an 18+ hour standalone zombie adventure set in the post-apocalyptic Castor Woods, once a popular tourist destination.
The protagonist is Kyle Crane, a selfless man who saved many during the initial virus outbreak. However, he was in captivity for 13 years, causing him to eventually learn about how much the world has changed for the worse. He aims to refine his survival skills to stay alive and save more of the innocent. Roger Craig Smith will also be reprising his role as Kyle. He said the following:
“Stepping back into Kyle Crane’s shoes feels like a reunion with an old friend. And even though he’s gone through a terrible time, there’s still plenty of legendary hero left in him.”
The Castor Woods features natural landmarks, small villages, and industrial complexes with several traversal options such as parkour or using an abandoned 4×4. Because of the experimentation, Kyle can use a beast-like power from mixed zombie DNA. Further, players can enjoy a four-player co-op if they don’t feel like playing solo.
Dying Light: The Beast was originally story DLC for Dying Light 2 Stay Human but eventually became its own experience after two years of work. Dying Light 2 Stay Human Ultimate Edition owners will receive Dying Light: The Beast for free.
Dying Light: The Beast will be released on PC, current-gen, and last-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles at an unknown time.
