Natsume Atari and developer Yukikaze/Studio Wildrose revealed a new update for Penny Blood: Hellbound’s Steam Early Access period. The roguelike has just received a few notable updates that players have been waiting for.
For starters, Online Multiplayer Mode lets players head into the Dimensional Rift, a gateway entrance to online co-op mode, and team up with up to three other players to defeat waves of monsters from all across Mictlan in a unique adventure. Players can choose a character, skills, and accessories and match up with random players from all over the world or only players from a friend list.
The update also brings:
New Area: Area 4 ‘Otherworldly Laboratory’
- Explore a warped laboratory filled with space-time distortions. This new area introduces a host of new enemies and a formidable new boss to challenge players’ skills.
New Weapons for Playable Characters
- Unlock a secondary base weapon for each of the five playable characters at the Forbidden Trapdoor blacksmith facility. These new weapons provide a fresh new battle style for each character!
- Clara: Crimson Rain
- Axeman: Greataxe
- Sariel: Säbelzähne
- Dr. Eugene: Malice Cube Σ
- Saltykova: Serrated Fans
New Facility NPCs
- Two new NPCs will be discoverable in Area 4 and join the hideout to aid players.
- Nihila, a tentacled being who has a love for tea, will be attached to the new Subspace Tearoom facility.
- Sabnack, a demonic marquis who somehow found his way into the hideout, will be attached to the Forbidden Trapdoor blacksmith facility.
New Buddies (AI-controlled Dungeon NPCs)
- Two new Buddies will be unlockable to fight alongside you:
- Dosetsu Igarashi, a man claiming to be the greatest fiend in Japan, uses rope bondage to dominate his foes.
- Jane Toppan, a seemingly sweet-mannered nurse, attacks her enemies with various syringes.
Additional Features and Adjustments
- The early access update includes a range of new features and improvements:
- Blood surfing attacks for ranged characters (Dr. Eugene and Saltykova)
- New side quests and cutscenes
- Enhanced AI functionality for Buddies
- Gameplay, enemy AI, and UI adjustments
- Various bug fixes across the game
