Forever Entertainment announced the Storm Trident-developed co-op Beat ’em’ up Night Slashers: Remake will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam on September 26, 2024. The game will launch for $9.99, but a demo is available now.
A trailer was released showcasing the updated visuals, and while they lean more into highly contrasted cartoon characters, the bassy tunes still manage to bring me back. If you’re feeling nostalgic, this might be what you’re looking for.
Night Slashers: Remake is a modern reimagining of the classic horror-themed beat ’em up originally developed by Data East in 1994. This updated version stays true to its arcade roots, allowing players to navigate through seven stages filled with gruesome enemies and challenging boss battles. The gameplay is as fast-paced and action-packed as ever, with waves of undead monsters and supernatural foes blocking your path at every turn. What makes this remake stand out is the enhanced combat mechanics, giving players access to new combos, special moves, and aerial attacks, making each encounter feel dynamic and rewarding.
In addition to the updated gameplay, Night Slashers: Remake has received a complete visual and audio overhaul. The upgraded visual effects, from the blood splatters to the atmospheric lighting, create a more immersive horror experience. Plus, players can choose between the original soundtrack or a newly-arranged score, providing a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern-day flair. With expanded multiplayer options allowing up to four players and a revamped character selection screen, this remake successfully breathes new life into a beloved cult classic while maintaining the gritty, horror-filled charm that made the original so iconic.
