Tarnished Blood is a dark, strategic RPG with an extensive system of traits, wounds, and traumas that deeply affect gameplay and character development. Players choose from four distinct tribes, each with unique abilities, and must adapt to ever-changing gameplay through dynamic events and environments. Permanent body modifications like petrification or cut-off limbs add a layer of customization and difficulty, while hidden lore and a haunting soundtrack enrich the experience. Each playthrough unlocks new items, abilities, and bosses, ensuring no two campaigns are the same.
The game’s combat system is heavily time-based, allowing players to manipulate time by placing actions on a timeline to create combos or evade lethal attacks. This level of control introduces a layer of strategy that’s both rewarding and challenging. As players venture into a dangerous world ruled by monstrous creatures and time-bending Celestials, they must build and arm a team of warriors to survive. Salvaging resources from enemies to craft new items and expand their village is key to maintaining the Protector Tree, a vital element in the game’s story.
