small bros and Retrovibe have announced that their retro-inspired action-platformer/metroidvania B.I.O.T.A. has officially launched on Steam and GOG.
B.I.O.T.A. features eight playable characters, a full story mode, arcade levels, and extra modes. In the story, you play as a team of mercenaries who fight ghoulish monsters in a mining colony that has been infected by an alien plague. Using a variety of guns and vehicles, you must survive the experience while killing all of the abominations that seek to kill you first.
B.I.O.T.A. also contains 54 different 4-color palettes that can be unlocked and used at any time, making the game look exactly how the player wants at all times. You can save anywhere in the game, and it allows for full controller support. Plus, it has a chiptune and synth-wave filled soundtrack, in-line with the combination of new and old that B.I.O.T.A. embodies in its visuals and gameplay.
A launch trailer for B.I.O.T.A. was dropped to celebrate the game’s release. The trailer gives players a look at the sharp retro aesthetic and some of the freakish enemies they’ll encounter throughout the game.
You can grab the game now on its official Steam and GOG pages for $9.99. For more information, check out the trailer above.
