In such a busy and energetic city I had one of my clearest moments of peace on a regular ferry across the Bosphorus. Near Taksim we were walking through some busy side alleys and stumbled across an area where there was a tall tower and stairs. Everyone was just hanging around sitting, chatting and drinking through the night peacefully. You don’t see that in England, but you do in Istanbul. I need to find that place again when I go back.

Besides there is chaos in the city by architectural point of view and there is always rush.

Thanks for the information that you shared. I love to live in this city, I work as part time photographer and there is no other place where I can make photos without any limit. Here are some of my Istanbul photos: http://www.istanbulphotographer.com/istanbul-sightseeing/

But if you want to escape some of the busy tourist honeypots, like Sultanahmet and Eminonu try visiting the lavish shopping district of nisantasi, here you can find top designer brands and have a propper turkish lunch with elegance. Enjoy!
