Using a creepy teaser video, the official Dead Space Twitter account announced that there will be a new developer livestream rather soon. It’s a bit tough to hear through all the eerie ambiance, but the livestream is set to take place at 10 AM on March 11. The livestream is set to cover the work that goes into creating a remake like this from the perspective of the developers themselves. https://twitter.com/deadspace/status/1500894696318521345?s=20&t=0PStMNZgjWgcFm8xXbR5vA A lengthier announcement trailer was released on the official Dead Space YouTube channel, showing a creepy necromorph followed by Dead Space protagonist Isaac Clarke, working away at one of the game’s many toolbenches.…

When I reviewed the first volume of Mao a couple of months back, my thoughts were primarily focused on the simplicity in both its art and narrative. Mao Vol. 2 still has a fair amount of the previous volume’s simplistic nature, but with some more detailed art to make it stand out just a bit more. It’s another fun but fairly basic Mao volume, with a few minor improvements this time around. Carrying on from the first volume, Nanoka, Mao, and Otoya are investigating a priestess who seems capable of predicting death. There are some twists and turns along the…

Following my review of Volume 1 of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure – Part 5: Golden Wind, I’ve found a new appreciation for this particularly wacky part of one of Japan’s best and weirdest manga. There’s genuinely nothing else like it, and as the series evolves volume-by-volume, it escalates in exciting and, yes, bizarre ways. So if you were interested in Golden Wind after volume one, you’re in for another wild ride this time around. In this volume, Giorno Giovanna finds his way into Passione after the events of volume one. Though there are some growing pains between the members, they quickly…

Though in Japan, it’s been running since 2019, we’re just getting the English version of Rumiko Takahashi’s Mao now. If Takahashi’s name strikes you as familiar, it’s likely because of her past work, Inuyasha. Mao is Takahashi-san’s latest manga, following Rin-ne, and it stood out to me because of its yokai-oriented premise. It turned out to be a fun read, though the art is a bit basic, and the story is fairly formulaic. Mao is about Kiba Nanoka, a young woman who was in a mysterious accident as a child. When her car fell into a sinkhole, Nanoka’s parents died,…

I absolutely love JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. I’ve read it since Part 3 (Stardust Crusaders) was the only arc available in the West. So naturally, I jumped at the opportunity to review Golden Wind for Noisy Pixel. It’s a part that didn’t grab me upon my first reading years ago but nabbed my interest when the anime aired with updated translations. Luckily, this new official translation from Viz brings new life to Golden Wind, making this release the best way to read one of the most unique manga in the world. Golden Wind stars Giorno Giovanna, a young man with a…

As the resident Canadian around here, it’s my job to review anything involving ice or cold temperatures. Naturally, a manga about figure-skating fits right into that niche, so I’m here to talk about Medalist Vol. 1. Medalist Vol. 1 follows Tsukasa, a 24-year-old man who had to give up on his dreams of being a champion ice-dancer due to financial concerns. While working a part-time job, Tsukasa meets a fifth-grade girl named Inori. Inori loves skating but has parents that don’t support her due to her sister’s failure to become a skating pro. Seeing this, Tsukasa decides to become Inori’s…

Most people would likely agree that there’s something strangely interesting about the occult and the supernatural, no matter how bogus these things may be. This morbid curiosity made The Shrouded Isle stick out to me upon viewing its trailer, and though it has its fair share of issues, it’s certainly a unique and peculiar gaming experience. https://youtu.be/jKR9jfRMiiY In The Shrouded Isle, you play as the leader of a cult-engulfed village. The entire village is made up of five prominent families, each of which is in charge of promoting a certain value that is of use to the cult and its…

I’ve always been fond of adventure games, from classics like Monkey Island to more modern “adventure” games like TellTale’s earlier titles. When I was pitched Nairi: Tower of Shirin, the impressive art and charming characters were what really caught my eye, especially with https://youtu.be/x0elK3h5MDE Nairi stars the aptly named Nairi, an upper-class young woman whose life drastically changes when her family home is attacked. As she’s smuggled out of the city, Nairi is caught and kidnapped by a charming band of cat bandits, who quickly transition from kidnappers to furry friends. After getting to know the cats, Nairi decides to…
