Masahiro Sakurai recently uploaded a new video on his official YouTube channel discussing the inclusion of Sora from Kingdom Hearts into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Throughout the video, Sakurai reveals plenty of development images of Sora before finalizations were made, emphasizing the countless refinements that went into his character model and associated elements before release.
The video’s focus is quite precise as it highlights specific animations for Sora’s various attacks. Pre-feedback and post-feedback images are shown, emphasizing Sakurai’s consideration of detail. Every facet was given considerable attention, from Sora’s clothing and arm movements to his facial shape.
Even the Hollow Bastion stage saw numerous alterations, including the clouds and the implementation of the water. Regardless of your history or interest in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, this video is worth the watch simply for a realistic portrayal of how intricate video game development is.
The first officially unveiled song of Kingdom Hearts IV, “Reality in the Dark,” was posted last year.
Kingdom Hearts IV is shown to at least partially take place in Quadratum, a realm dubbed to be “unreality” by the denizens of the Kingdom Hearts’ realm. It is far more realistic in presentation and scope, akin to our real-life world. Quadratum was initially teased in Kingdom Hearts III and Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind, but it was first namedropped in the finale of Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory.
Kingdom Hearts IV will launch at an unknown time.
The next Kingdom Hearts entry, Kingdom Hearts Missing–Link, will launch for mobile devices via iOS and Android in 2024.
