Konami and Bloober Team have unveiled the official launch trailer for its upcoming remake of the classic horror game Silent Hill 2 ahead of its launch next week.
Silent Hill 2 Remake will be released on PlayStation 5 and PC on October 8, 2024.
Protagonist James investigates a letter from his late wife, leading him to travel to where they made several memories, Silent Hill. However, this location is now a ghost town with monstrosities abound.
Bloober Team, known for Layers of Fear and The Medium, is working on this title. Concept artist Masahiro Ito is collaborating on the project alongside composer Akira Yamaoka. According to the team, their goal is to keep the original charm of the timeless classic that was the PlayStation 2 version and to give it a new form that will draw and immerse players even further.
Creative Director and Lead Designer at Bloober Team Mateusz Lenart emphasized motion capture for emotive facial expressions, Unreal Engine 5 for enhanced audio and visuals, and Lumen, “a fully dynamic global illumination solution that immediately reacts to scene and light changes.” Nanite technology is also used to provide realism.
Moreover, 3D audio and the WWise sound engine will grant stellar sound design. Lastly, exploration will be made seamless thanks to the incorporated console SSD. No loading screens will be present.
The standard edition gives the Mira the Dog Mask pre-order bonus, and PlayStation 5 owners will get the Robbie the Rabbit Mask pre-order bonus.
The Deluxe Edition will grant a digital art book, a digital soundtrack, and the in-game Pyramid Head mask. The art book will feature over 130 pieces of art and designs by concept artist Masahiro Ito. Additionally, 48-hour early access will be provided alongside the aforementioned standard edition pre-order bonuses.
