Via a post on X (formerly Twitter) by the developer Natsu Kaze, also identified as James Bergeron in the Kickstarter, Maple Forest officially launched its Kickstarter on September 30, 2024. At the time of writing, Maple Forest has already been funded in under seven hours, and in the update, it has been noted that stretch goals will continue to be added in the near future.
Some important questions are answered within the Kickstarter’s FAQ page:
“What sort of game is Maple Forest?
Maple Forest is an action RPG inspired by classics like The Legend of Zelda, Secret of Mana, and the Soul Blazer trilogy. If you’re a fan of any of these games, you’ll find a lot to love about Maple Forest!
What platforms will Maple Forest release on?
Maple Forest will launch on the Nintendo Switch and its successor, the PS5, the Xbox Series S and X, and on PC.”
The page also delves into the game being developed by one person:
“The list of people working on Maple Forest is just me, James! I’m proud to say that I’m creating all the art, music, code, writing, and everything else for Maple Forest by myself slowly but steadily by hand, one day at a time. I think making the game alone is going to let me make something really special – every single pixel, note, and bit of Maple Forest is 100% me. The game is a love letter to the classic games we all love, and a gift straight from my heart to all of you. I’m really proud of and excited about what I’m making, and I hope that love and excitement is shining through in my work.”
Maple Forest currently displays an estimated delivery date of June 2025 and is expected to be released on all platforms and PC. Stay tuned to Noisy Pixel for future news on Maple Forest.
