During Gamescom’s Opening Night Live 2024, Floatopia was announced and appears to be headed for a 2025 release. A post on X from the Floatopia account puts the cozy game into perspective.
In a world of superpowers, roam floating islands with friends and fantastical flora and fauna—let your worries float away, kick back, and relax!
More details are provided in a post on the game’s official website. The game brings players to the Floating Islands, a magical world filled with toys, travel, superpowers, and more, with activities such as farming, fishing, and decorating a dream home. In terms of decorating your island, players will be able to transform the terrain, set a theme, and personalize everything from the base to the graffiti.
In addition to lazying around your floating island, the post also alludes to being able to sail your floating island to other realms such as mountaintop cities, ancient towns, culinary paradises, and more. Whether players want to explore or cozy up on their own islands, it appears that Floatopia has something for everyone.
Pre-registration for the game is currently available on the official website. Floatopia is currently expected to release on the Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox in 2025.
Rejoice isn’t quite the word I’d use. More like deeply concerned that a game is including gambling mechanics while still easily appealing to children.
Not to say that cozy games don’t have cutesy graphics, or that children are their target audience, but it feels like NetEase is taking advantage of the situation by making it F2P and gacha/loot boxes.
Honestly, the artstyle’s pretty cute though. This feels like what early 2010s Korean MMOs wanted to look like.
