Konami has revealed more of their plans for Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection during World Championship 2024. Now we know that the package will include three more Game Boy titles and will offer over 10 games in total.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection is a Switch and PC (Steam) videogame compilation made to celebrate the 25 years of the TCG franchise. While the original manga by Kazuki Takahashi came out in 1996, it was only by 1999 that the card game we know came to be.
We already knew that the collection would include Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 4: Battle of Great Duelists for the Game Boy Color, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 6: Expert 2 for the Game Boy Advance. These two games were part of the reveal back in the beginning of the year.
The new info reveals plans for over 10 games from the early age of the series. This means the games should not include current rules and card formats like Synchro and Pendulum, which didn’t exist back in the day.
The new entries revealed include:
- Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (Game Boy, 1998);
- Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters II: Dark Duel Stories (Game Boy [Color-enhanced], 1999);
- Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters III: Tri Holy God Advent (Game Boy Color, 2000).
While the third game came over west under the name of its predecessor, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters: Dark Duel Stories, the other titles were only released in Japan. Duel Monsters 6 also had a modified edition that came west as Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel.
Funnily enough, the announcements so far skip Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 5 Expert 1. Western fans are likely to recognize it as the title that was modified into Yu-Gi-Oh! The Eternal Duelist Soul.
Other Game Boy Advance titles from the series include The Sacred Cards, Reshef of Destruction, World Championship 2004, 2005, and 2006, and GX: Duel Academy. It’ll be interesting to see how many of them will be included in the package and whether Konami also packs console titles like Forbidden Memories.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection still doesn’t have a release date. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as Konami reveals more info on the game.
