JAST has announced a release window for Mojika: Truth Rears Its Ugly Head. The visual novel by developer Nitroplus is coming to PC on JAST Store and Steam in February 2025. While the game’s store page points to a February 28, 2025 release, the company confirmed this date is only a placeholder when asked.
Mojika tells the story of a young man called Tanezaki Suteru. Due to his appearance, he has been ostracized and bullied ever since he was a small kid. He’s so ugly that it disgusts people just having to see him around.
However, the worst part is that the boy has a special power that allows him to read the mind of people. By being within 120 centimeters from someone and looking them in the eye, their thoughts flow in. As a result, he ends up seeing even more abusive thoughts and dark secrets that they wouldn’t dare say out loud.
Now he lives as an introvert that fears to look people in the eye and know what they really feel. However, one thing ends up pushing him into an aggressive mindset: his crush falsely confesses her love to him.
What should have been a “small joke” in bad taste becomes the last straw leading him to revenge. Now he decides to use his powers to torment the five girls who caused him the most pain.
Mojika: Truth Rears Its Ugly Head comes from writer and director Shimokura Vio, who has previously worked on YOU and ME and HER: A Love Story and Tokyo Necro. The artwork by Hamashima Shigeo of Euphoria and Maggot Baits fame is another highlight.
Players interested in checking the game out can already preorder it on the JAST Store or wishlist it on Steam.
