Compile Heart released the opening movie for the upcoming Artisan Studios developed action RPG Super Neptunia RPG, coming to PlayStation 4 on September 27 in Japan, and PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in North America and Europe this fall.
The trailer features each of the goddesses in their newest adventure and also their new 2D models. The theme song is called “Dia vo Lhizer” by Eri Sasaki.
During gameplay, players will be able to play as Neptune, Noir, Blanc, and Vert in an all new side-scrolling adventure games, developed by a western studio for the first time. The gang of goddesses finds themselves in a new world owned by an organization called “Silkworm” which evidently worships 2D games.
The people of this world are forced to create 2D games and pay taxes in the form of game cassettes. In the event that they produce poor quality games, the citizen will have their spirit destroyed.
It is then that Neptune awakens after losing her memories and decided to become the hero that she is destined to be as she seeks out a way to put a stop to these inhumane acts with the help of a mysterious book (Histoire).
The game features 2D combat portions as well as long story scenes for fans to have their Neptunia fix. Being the first time a western studio is attempting to develop an entry of this series it’s awesome to see the product coming along so well. We’ll definitely be keeping up with its progress.
