During Anime Expo 2018, Japanese developer Spike Chunsoft announced the western release date for the obscure visual novel 428: Shibuya Scramble, now coming to PlayStation 4 and PC-via Steam on September 4, 2018.
Along with the announcement, the developer showed off a new trailer that gives a brief overview of the game’s systems. Players will control a handful of characters who start their day off with no connection to one another. Throughout the day’s events, players will need to make choices which have a tendency to result in a bad ending. However, all is not lost, players are able to travel between events and replay them to make a different choice and receive a new outcome.
428: Shibuya Scramble features still images and real actors set in the Shibuya district. At heart, the game plays out like a visual novel with a choice system where players will encounter a branching path in which they will witness first hand “Cause and Effect”.
428: Shibuya Scramble originally released as a Wii exclusive in Japan in 2008. The PlayStation 4 and PC port are being developed by Abstraction Games and Kajiya Productions is working on the localization.
428: Shibuya Scramble releases on PlayStation 4 and PC-via on September 4.
