Cooler Master continues to push for ingenuity in the PC customization space by, first and foremost, releasing their brand new patented desktop case, the TD500 Max. We all know the nuisance of putting together foreign parts is a big deterrent for new PC builders, but Cooler Master intends to capitalize on those looking for ways to clear the gap.
Particularly, there are certain features that make the TD500 Max stand out from the rest, starting with the patented pre-wired, “two stage” power connectors. Instead of wiring your internal hardware directly to the PSU, the TD500 Max provides ports close to the motherboard standoff mounts and frame, thus leaving no room for error (Refer to attached images). Specifically, they also provide the perfect length cables to run directly into the dual connector, making your set-up exponentially cleaner, easy to deal with, and most importantly lacking the headache of wire management.
Next, the TD500 Max comes pre-loaded with an 850W gold rated Cooler Master PSU and a Cooler Master Atmos 360mm Liquid Cooler AIO, granted it comes with the price of $399 USD, or 450 in Europe. No need to worry about case fitment, finding the right sale, or any other buying stress you create for yourself; the TD500 Max leaves no room for user error in the buying phase.
Adding to the pre-installed, pre-wired nature of the TD500 Max, Cooler Master also exclusively sets you up for 40 series next gen GPUs with the provided 450w PCI 5 cabling. Nice to see them keep up to date with hardware, but keep in mind, if you are building with a dual-pin 30 series card, you may have to provide and run your own PCI cable. This talking point somewhat diminishes the ease of use this case brings to the table, thus catering to those only with the latest and greatest, so keep this in mind before you spontaneously buy this case.
Other than a slightly tweaked face design from the TD500 Max’s predecessor, the TD500 Mesh, the case has a few more stand out style points, such as an exclusive gray color, and a convenient in-case screw holder (No more losing those pesky screws).
Although a little “plasticy,” and pricey, the TD500 Max stands out as a push forward in the PC building community. Maybe struggling over wire management isn’t as cool or unique as it used to be, and this hardware brings back the fun with peace of mind. If you are a 40 series card holder, or a next gen GPU owner using 450W or more, this case could easily be in your shopping cart for your next rig.
