HypeTrain Digital announced the Ice-Pick Lodge-developed narrative RPG Pathologic 3 is in development for a 2025 release on PC via Steam. The game aims to return to the roots of the series and expand on the original concepts through new gameplay mechanics that “expand the boundaries of the narrative approach.”
Pathologic 3 continues the series’ signature approach of immersing players in a grim, disease-ridden town on the brink of collapse. This time, players assume the role of The Bachelor, a renowned doctor known for his battle against death, who is drawn to the town by the cryptic message of Isidor Burakh, now deceased. As The Bachelor, players must unravel the mystery of the plague, navigating ethical dilemmas, treating patients, and fighting to save the town—all while death looms over every decision.
A notable addition in Pathologic 3 is the time-travel mechanic, allowing players to revisit pivotal moments and alter outcomes. While the core challenge remains—the player has only 12 days to try and save the town—the ability to manipulate time adds a new layer of strategy, encouraging players to rethink their choices and explore alternative paths in the narrative. The haunting atmosphere, combined with the complex ethical challenges, maintains the chilling tone that has made the Pathologic series a cult favorite.
